Hello! Welcome to upcycled.bike, the destination where discarded or underappreciated bicycles are given a fresh lease of life.
As an Amsterdam native, I noticed the vast number of unwanted bikes cluttering our beautiful city. With new brands launching attractive bikes, I thought, why not refurbish these overlooked bikes and give them a unique appeal? A bike with a peculiar color, paint damage, or minor defects shouldn’t be discarded. They still have potential to be cool and functional. Do we really need to add another brand-new bike to the streets?
Bike production often contributes significantly to environmental damage. At upcycled.bike, our mission is to revamp these oldies into trendy bikes, thereby reducing environmental pressure one bike at a time.
We strive to reuse, recycle, upcycle, and sensibly source our stock. We avoid products that contribute to environmental degradation through long-distance transportation or harmful production processes. While some materials we use, like paint or cleaning supplies, may have an environmental impact, we’re committed to minimizing this as much as possible. We believe this minor compromise is worth it when compared to the environmental cost of a new bike.
As a startup, we’re currently focusing on specific brands with a solid base. We prioritize bikes with aluminum frames because they don’t rust, ensuring the safety of our customers. Not all bikes are suitable for upcycling, but we’re committed to making the best out of what’s available.
We’re now sourcing bikes before they deteriorate beyond repair and transforming them into appealing pieces. As part of our refurbishing process, we also offer customized bikes! The current lead time is about 7 days. To purchase a bike, visit our site and purchase your custom bike and then email us at [email protected] with your specific requests. Please note that extra charges may apply for multi-colored, branded, or stickered company bikes.
Join us on this journey to give discarded bikes a new life while contributing to a more sustainable world.
